Project overview
An open invitation to slow down. This lounge brings the warmth of wood to a generous gathering space.
Client brief
A private lounge and guest house for a corporate client, to read as a landmark timber building while performing in Hyderabad's climate.
Objectives
- A striking, legible timber form
- Large glazed gable with uninterrupted views
- Durable detailing for heat, moisture and termites
- Fast, clean construction on a landscaped site
Design and engineering approach
Light-frame construction in Canadian spruce-pine-fir, with the gable truss and glazing line engineered together so the frame carries the glass without intermediate posts. The stone base keeps timber clear of ground moisture.
Construction methodology
Frames and trusses manufactured at Adibatla, delivered and assembled on a prepared base; glazing, cladding and finishes completed on site.
Material and value-engineering considerations
Repetitive stud and truss modules keep the frame economical; the single large gable is the one bespoke element, where the budget shows.
Outcomes
Completed and in use.
